Town of Castle Rock urges citizens to take care of our summer air

At Castle Rock's Summer Movie Starlight Festival on Saturday, July 15, staff promoted the use of the free bus system called CATCO and educated the community about ground-level ozone pollution.  They handed out t-shirts to both adults and children that included the "Top ten ways to decrease ozone pollution."  The giveaway prompted citizens to ask about CATCO bus schedules and the buses, which are powered by compressed natural gas.  Additional t-shirts will be distributed at the Starlight Festival on August 19th in downtown Castle Rock at 3rd and Wilcox.

Go Green in Your Yard

Did you know your gas-powered lawn mower can add 93 times more smog-causing emissions, quart for quart, than the average car?

Check out this recent New York Times article on dirty mowers and then be sure to head over to our Mow Down Pollution page where you can trade your old gas-powered mower in for big discounts on a new, earth friendly mower through the end of May.

It's easy to go green in your yard! Just buy earth-friendly lawn equipment and mow in the evening this summer. And on really hot days, remember to just chill and watch the grass grow - it can wait, right?
